Cowpin is a fast, private, text-first bookmark manager — a modern home for people who take bookmarks seriously. These docs cover getting set up, moving your library over from Pinboard, organizing with tags, and using the API.

What Cowpin gives you

• Bookmarks with real tags. Tag freely, then browse a tag cloud, filter by tag, or combine tags into saved bundles.
• Full-text search, included. Search titles, URLs, notes — and the archived contents of pages — without a paid add-on.
• Read later. Flag things to read, and let the AI "focus" pick surface the few worth your time.
• Private by default. Your bookmarks are yours. Make individual links public only when you choose to.
• Page archiving. Keep a snapshot so a dead link doesn't mean a lost bookmark.
• A Pinboard-compatible API. Point existing Pinboard scripts and apps at Cowpin with minimal changes.

Bring your data — and take it with you

Cowpin is built so you're never locked in. Import from Pinboard (API token or HTML export) or any Netscape-format bookmark file, and export back to Pinboard-compatible JSON any time. Leaving should always be as easy as arriving.
