The bookmarklet

One-click saving from any browser, no extension needed.

The bookmarklet is the fastest way to save the page you're looking at. It's a small bookmark you keep on your browser toolbar; clicking it saves the current page to Cowpin.

Install it

  1. In Cowpin, go to Settings → Browser tools (or Settings → Bookmarklet).
  2. Drag the Save to Cowpin button up to your browser's bookmarks bar.

That's it — no extension, no store, works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

If your bookmarks bar is hidden, show it first: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + B in most browsers.

Use it

On any page you want to keep, click Save to Cowpin in your bookmarks bar. A small window opens pre-filled with the page title and URL, where you can:

  • add or edit tags (or accept the AI's suggestions),
  • add a note,
  • mark it read later,
  • keep it private (the default) or make it public.

Save, and you're back to what you were doing.

Other ways to save

  • Save by email. Every account has a private inbound address under Settings → Browser tools. Email a link — or forward a newsletter — and it's added automatically. Great from a phone.
  • Browser extension. A dedicated one-click extension is rolling out per browser; check Settings → Browser tools to see if it's available for yours.
  • The API. Anything you can save by hand you can save programmatically over the Pinboard-compatible API, so existing Pinboard scripts keep working.
